Actress Gillian Anderson ( born August 9, 1968)  is recognized in the United States for starring in The Fall, Sex Education, The House of Mirth, and X-Files. After completing her studies in acting at DePaul University's Theatre School, she relocated to New York City. Because of her portrayal of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the series, Anderson became well-known throughout the world.

The Mighty Celt, The Last King of Scotland, Viceroy's House, Shadow Dancer, and two X-Files movies are among her film credits. Along with these television appearances, she has made appearances in Eleanor Roosevelt, Bleak House, Any Human Heart, Miss Havisham, Hannibal, and Media on American Gods.

She was appointed an honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2016 for her services to drama.

Anderson has supported numerous charities and humanitarian organizations, including the Neurofibromatosis Network and South African Youth Education for Sustainability (SAYes). She has resided in London since 2002, having previously lived between the United Kingdom and the United States.

In 1997, they got divorced. On Kenya's Lamu Island, she wed documentarian Julian Ozanne in 2004. In 2006, they got divorced. Mark Griffiths and Anderson are parents to two kids.
