“We’re Organising Another Ceremony In Honor Of Daddy Lumba” – Papa Shee

Posted on February 3, 2026February 3, 2026 by Kwame Tony

Months after Daddy Lumba’s official burial in Kumasi, former singer and preacher Papa Shee has stated that his family is organizing a second funeral service to honor the late highlife star.

A revelation made by evangelist Papa Shee, the former musician and former protégé of the late singer Daddy Lumba, has sparked new controversy months after the singer’s funeral. To further honor Daddy Lumba’s legacy, Papa Shee has disclosed preparations for what he called a second funeral service.

At the age of 60, Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025. He left behind two wives: Priscilla Ofori Atta, also known as Odo Broni, and Akosua Serwaa, whom he wed legally in 1991 and again under German civil law in 2004. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Heroes Park, which is next to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, hosted his formal funeral.

The two widows got into a heated legal battle over inheritance and marriage recognition in the weeks after his passing. In order to be recognized as Daddy Lumba’s only legitimate spouse, Akosua Serwaa filed a petition in the Kumasi High Court. She contended that German civil law forbade him from being married again after their union.

Nevertheless, the High Court dismissed her suit in a decision rendered on November 29, 2025. Judge Dorinda Smith, the presiding judge, decided that Serwaa had not presented enough evidence to support her marriage’s validity and exclusivity under German law. Rather, the court acknowledged both women as lawful spouses, pointing out that Odo Broni had successfully established her traditional marriage to the musician.

The court also ordered that both ladies be recognized as widows and allowed to carry out the proper widowhood ceremonies. Akosua Serwaa has since filed an appeal at Ghana’s Court of Appeal because he was unhappy with the decision. In addition, she did not attend the funeral in Kumasi, even though her three children with Daddy Lumba were there. Notable absences also included a few close relatives.

On Monday, February 2, 2026, on Smart Ghana TV, Papa Members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family, who are still dissatisfied with the way things turned out, are planning another celebration in his honor, Shee revealed.

He claims that the event, called “The Celebration of the Life of Daddy Lumba,” is anticipated to happen later in the year, with an official date to be revealed on either March 28 or 29, 2026.

The choice was made following a family gathering, according to Papa Shee, who is currently the spokesperson for Akosua Serwaa. According to him, the purpose of the ceremony is to honor the late musician’s life and contribution to Ghanaian music in a way that the organizers think is more appropriate.
