I’ll win Oscars for Ghana soon – Ama K Abebrese
Ama K. Abebrese, a seasoned actress from Ghana, has stated that she will likely win Ghana's Oscar shortly.
The Oscars, also referred to as the Academy Awards, are prizes given for artistic and technical excellence in the domestic and worldwide cinema industries. Many people consider the awards to be the most prestigious and important ones in the global entertainment industry.
One of Ghana's first film producers, Ama K Abebrese is now residing in the United States. She asserts that she expects to be nominated for an Oscar and win it for Ghana within the next five years.
Speaking on “Xclusives' on Joy Prime, Ama K Aberese said she feels it's time Ghana also go international with their movie industry by winning prestigious awards.
“There are times and seasons. However, do not be surprised if an African, a Ghanaian wins an Oscar.”
“It is going to happen. I am going to win an Oscar. Until it's done, some people will not believe it,” she stressed.
Ama K Abebrese says that she believes Ghana can win the Oscars because she takes inspiration from Rocky Dawuni and Wizkid who have made it to the Grammys.
“Rocky Dawuni was nominated for a Grammy; other Ghanaians have also been nominated; Wizkid got nominated and won; Burna Boy also won so the truth is Africans, Ghanaians, it is possible.
“I just realized something with film – the business of film is not like music at the moment. When that changes, it will get to a point where people will start talking about it.”
