Ghanaian singer Sefa has opened up about a painful moment early in her career that left her emotionally shaken.
Speaking on Hitz FM, the singer revealed that a comment she saw on Twitter deeply affected her.
“Yes, I’ve had a lot of things, but one thing that really broke me one time, I went on Twitter, that’s why I’d never go on Twitter again,” she said.
According to her, a user questioned the investment being made in her career.
“Somebody was like, ‘I feel like Dee Black is wasting his money on Sefa. She’s talentless. She doesn’t have talent,’” she recounted.
Sefa said the comment hurt because it ignored the hard work happening behind the scenes.
“In my mind, I’m like, you don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. You don’t know how much work I put in,” she explained.
She also addressed assumptions about her image.
“To sit on social media and just type something because you see me, ‘Oh, she’s a nice girl on social media, so she’s just brainless, just beauty, no brains,’ it’s very disturbing,” she said.
The singer admitted that the experience broke her at the time, but it also marked a turning point in how she handled criticism.
