“Vodafone Icons And X-Factor Reality Show Judges Rejected Me Because I Laughed At Them” – Mr. Drew Reaveals
Andrew Commey Otoo, popularly known as Mr. Drew, the Ghanaian Afrobeat musician, has revealed how he was booed off Vodafone Icons and X-Factor because he laughed at the judges.
According to the singer, he has always known he can sing but has never taken it seriously since he believes he was born to dance. He admitted that he used to go to studios only to mock singers whose vocals were not up to par with his.
Mr. Drew said in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show that he tried his luck on the Vodafone Icons reality show and the X-Factor but was turned down.
The judges assumed he wasn’t serious because he was always laughing when he arrived on stage, he said. He claimed that some of the judges are ill-dressed and that their facial expressions made him laugh so hard that they had to decline him.
After being granted access to the MTN Hitmaker in 2018, he began to take his singing talent seriously. Mr. Drew began his career as a dancer before moving into the music industry. Kaywa, the ace music producer, owns the Highly Spiritual Music record label, where he has been formally signed.
Mr. Drew has managed to get his name on the lips of Ghanaians thanks to a few songs. He’s been dubbed one of the greatest vocalists in the industry, and he recently took home the award for Best New Artiste of the Year.
