Nick Mullens Siblings: Meet Frank Mullens and Heather Mullens
Nicholas Clayton Mullens, also known as Nick Mullens is an American football quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he grew up in Hoover, Alabama, and is the grandson of Ernie Tabor, who played in the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system in the 1950s.
Mullens, originally committed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, signed with Southern Miss instead. He became the first true freshman starting quarterback in Southern Miss history to pass for more than 300 yards in a single game.
He passed for 1,776 yards as a freshman, and in 2015, ranked sixth among NCAA Division I FBS quarterbacks in passing yardage. In 2016, he threw for a career-high 591 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of college and has played in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns leagues.
In 2016, Mullens made 11 starts and completed 243 of 384 attempts for 3,272 yards and 24 touchdowns, averaging 297.5 passing yards per game. In May 2017, he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers and was ranked as the fourth backup quarterback going into training camp.
He was Jimmy Garoppolo’s backup in 2019 and signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. In 2021, he signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns and was selected to start at quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022.
