Mobile Web Ghana Launches Online Work Africa Summit (Photos)
Mobile Web Ghana and its partners launched the Online Work Africa Summit on May 23, 2024, with the goal of reducing youth unemployment through online work opportunities.
The event, which was attended by dignitaries and media representatives, focused on the potential of internet work to empower African youth.
Florence Tofa, Director of Mobile Web Ghana, opened the summit with a powerful speech, reiterating the organization's dedication to equipping the youth with essential digital competencies. “Our commitment is to provide young people with the skills they need to succeed in the digital economy,” she stated.
Tofa emphasized the critical role of digital skills in today's job market and the transformative potential of online work.
Liza Steger, Regional Public Engagement Specialist at the US Embassy in Ghana, followed with remarks highlighting the alignment of the initiative with the US Embassy's focus on skills building and sustainable opportunities for young people. “The Online Work Africa Summit is a pivotal step towards creating meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities for the youth,” Steger noted.
The summit featured an in-depth overview of the Online Work Africa initiative, outlining its goals and the urgent need to address the high rates of youth unemployment across the continent. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between young job seekers and the global digital economy, providing them with the tools and opportunities to thrive.
One of the most inspiring moments of the launch event was the series of testimonials from individuals who have achieved economic empowerment through online work. These success stories illustrated the tangible benefits of the initiative and its potential to change lives.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which participants had the opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions about the practical aspects of online work, such as payment and withdrawal processes. This session provided valuable insights and reassurances to potential new entrants to the online job market.
We would be excited to welcome you on board as a sponsor, partner, trainer and as a participant. Visit to learn more about this summit. www.onlineworkafrica.com .
