An unidentified Nigerian woman has sparked debate online after stating that marriage will never come at the expense of her career ambitions.
Speaking in a video addressed to her future husband, she explained that she has carefully planned her professional journey and has no intention of giving it up after getting married.
“I’m never gonna put a stop to my careers because you say so. I would not tell you to end your own career for me as well,” she said.
According to her, some men expect women to make sacrifices that they would not be willing to make themselves.
“Before you met me, I happened to be a career woman. Now you meet me and you want me to suddenly stop my career. It’s not going to work,” she stated.
The woman also shared her views on parenting, stressing that raising children should be a shared responsibility between both parents.
“You’re not helping me raise your children because they are your children,” she said.
She argued that childcare should not be viewed solely as a mother’s responsibility and that fathers should actively participate in raising their children without expecting special recognition.
“Don’t ever consider it as help because you are being a parent,” she added.
Her comments have generated mixed reactions on social media, with some people applauding her stance on career and parenting, while others disagreed with her views on marriage and family responsibilities.
