Ghanaian music producer and entertainment personality Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, has advised couples against making their marital disputes public, saying disagreements are best resolved within the home.
In a Facebook post, Fredyma said he had received numerous calls and messages urging him to comment on the ongoing social media discussions involving Bishop Daniel Obinim and his wife, Florence Obinim. However, he stressed that he would not interfere in the matter.
According to him, his position is based on personal experience, revealing that he has been married for 37 years and has maintained a firm commitment to keeping marital disagreements away from the public.
“I have been in a ‘happy’ relationship with my wife for the past 37 hot military years. I promised her that, no matter our differences, I will never bring our marriage issues to both families, friends, pastors, not to talk of the public,” he wrote.
Fredyma explained that once relationship issues are shared with outsiders, the damage often lingers even after the couple has reconciled.
“When you report your partner in times of a little misunderstanding to their families, friends and the public, you might later forgive yourselves. However, the others will never forgive you,” he stated.
He also disclosed that he has known Bishop Daniel Obinim and his family since 2014 and lived with them for about three years, but believes the ongoing issues should be handled privately rather than through public commentary.
According to him, the couple has also supported him in the past, including during a difficult period following a flood and fire incident.
Fredyma said he has already reached out privately to both Bishop Obinim and Florence Obinim, adding that caution is needed when discussing such matters publicly to avoid being seen as taking sides.
