After posting a video of her child, Mudasir Muhammed Yakubu, learning how to wash clothes by hand, well-known Ghanaian actress and social media star Haniya Rosemond Brown, better known online as Akuapem Poloo, received accolades for her parenting approach.
As his mother gave him directions, the small child looked attentive yet a little grumpy in the video that was shared on her Instagram page.
After soaking the clothes in water, he smeared them with soap and scrubbed and squeezed out spots with his hands. He washed the garments, rinsed them in fresh water, squeezed out the extra liquid, and set them on a basin cover to hang to dry on the line.
His washing technique is typical in Ghana, where hand washing is preferred over washing machines in many homes. Akuapem Poloo has demonstrated a hands-on parenting style on several occasions and has previously posted recordings of her youngster picking up simple housework skills.
Many Ghanaians praised her in the comments section for teaching the youngster discipline and preparing him for the future. He could be ‘husband material’ for learning vital life skills, according to some.
