Love in the Creative Industry is fake – Arnold Asamoah Baidoo Reveals

Broadcast journalist and entertainment analyst, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, has challenged perceptions of unity within Ghana’s creative industry, describing the affection often displayed among industry players as superficial and unreliable.

Speaking about his experience during the Zylophone Media and EOCO controversy, Baidoo said the episode exposed the true nature of relationships in the creative space.

“The love in the creative industry is not genuine, and I am saying this from experience,” he stated. “I honestly thought I was one of the loved people in the industry until the Zylophone EOCO issue happened.”

Baidoo said his confidence in the goodwill of colleagues stemmed from years of positive public feedback and commendation for his work on radio and television, as well as his personal commitment to humility.

“I was getting applause, stellar commentary, and I always stayed grounded. I thought that feeling of love was mutual, until the issue came,” he said.

According to him, instead of support, some of his colleagues distorted facts surrounding the case, leading to what he described as misleading and damaging publications.

“My own colleagues were twisting the story. There were publications claiming that Bulldog and I had changed car papers and stolen air conditioners. The story was half told,” Baidoo lamented on the YouTube broadcast, Gentlemen and Gentlemen.

He said the public ridicule that followed, especially from fellow media practitioners, deeply affected him.

“When the media made a mockery of us, it really broke me. These were my own people. If anyone was going to hurt me, I never thought it would be them,” he added.

Baidoo said the experience was an eye-opener that reshaped his understanding of professional relationships in the industry.
