Eddie Nketiah Reveals Readiness To Play For The Black Stars Now

After years of doubt and rejection from England’s senior team, Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah has finally made it possible for Ghana to play internationally.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), which has been trying to persuade the 25-year-old Lewisham native to wear the Black Stars shirt, has had its eye on him for a very long time.

Before joining Crystal Palace, Nketiah was a revelation at Arsenal. He represented England at every young level and was even called up to the senior squad in 2023 to play against Scotland and Ukraine.

However, he was not selected for the match-day squad and has not been considered since.

During a live interview for The Beautiful Game podcast, Nketiah disclosed a change in opinions.

“After advancing through the juvenile system, I had the opportunity to represent England when I was younger. But I’ll be there if Ghana extends an invitation.

The announcements mark a critical turning point in Ghana’s efforts to recruit the striker. Nketiah, who has only scored one goal and provided one assist in 25 games this season at Selhurst Park, may see the move as a new beginning.

For the Black Stars, who are still looking for strikers ahead of important international games, his availability to play for Ghana now may be a huge confidence boost.

Fans will hope that this time, Nketiah is truly prepared, but it is unclear if Ghana will move on from this most recent development.
