“I Sold Cassettes For Despite As A Teenager” – KOD Reveals

The presidency’s director of diaspora affairs, Kofi Okyere Darko, often known as KOD, has revealed that he used to sell CDs and cassettes of music for Ghanaian business magnate Osei Kwame Despite.

At the June 1, 2025, formal inauguration of the motor museum owned by Osei Kwame Despite in East Legon, KOD spoke to blogger Ghhyper and claimed to have been doing this while still a teenager and in secondary school.

KOD clarified that his long-standing friendship with Osei Kwame Despite started during these years while he was employed by him.

He mentioned that this incident influenced how he entered the entertainment and music business.

“I used to sell cassettes as a youngster while working for Despite out of Lumba’s shop. I worked there in secondary school. “This is part of the story, how I got started in the music industry and everything,” KOD stated.

He said that he was one of the first voices predicted to join Peace FM during the station’s setup, but he was unable to do so because of his current position at another radio station.

“I was one of the quiet voices that was going to start when Peace FM was being established, but I was working at Radio Gold, so I couldn’t show my face,” he said.
