The 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) marked a sea change in fan interaction, according to well-known radio personality and entertainment analyst DJ Slim, who also noted how hundreds of music fans used betting sites to profit from predictions made at this year’s event.
DJ Slim said during his program, “We’re seeing something fresh. Instead of only watching award presentations, fans are now participating. They are involved.
Following a spike in betting that saw over GH¢ 45,000 given to people who accurately predicted award outcomes, especially in the eagerly awaited Artiste of the Year category, his remarks were made.
King Promise was particularly pleased with his victory in that area.
Data from MyBet Africa, one of the websites that provided odds on the awards, shows that 215 online bettors who wagered on the singer won GH¢38,428.98 in total.
Twenty-two more retail establishment winners were paid more than GH¢6,500.
According to DJ Slim, this combination of tech-driven engagement and entertainment is quickly ingraining itself into Ghanaian pop culture.
