Captain Planet 4×4’s Comments Stir Debate Over Romance Fraud Arrests

Ghanaian musician Captain Planet, formerly of hip-life group 4X4, has sparked public debate after sharing controversial comments on social media following recent romance fraud arrests involving some Ghanaian nationals in the United States.
In posts made on his X account on 13 December 2025, the artiste suggested that social media exposure is often what leads to the arrest of fraud suspects.
He argued that people who constantly show money and luxury online make themselves easy targets for investigation, adding that “a fish with its mouth closed never gets caught.”
Captain Planet also warned users about the amount of personal data collected by social media platforms, claiming such information can be used by law enforcement agencies to track individuals.
Agencies such as the FBI, he claimed, monitor social media activity as part of their investigations.
The musician further criticized what he described as selective justice, questioning why ordinary citizens face punishment while some politicians accused of corruption appear to escape prosecution.
His comments come in the wake of the arrest of Abu Trica, who has been linked to an alleged AI-driven romance scam targeting elderly victims in the US.
While some social media users agree with Captain Planet’s views on online exposure and surveillance, others believe his comments send the wrong message.
The discussion continues to trend online, with many divided over the implications of his remarks.
