Ghanaian musician JJ Gonami has explained why he deleted a social media post he made concerning Volta Region artistes Keeny Ice and Agbeshie’s appearance at Stonebwoy’s BHIM FEST London concert.
JJ Gonami made the revelation during an interview with MC Kafukafu on KFM TV, where he was asked about the controversy surrounding his earlier comments and the backlash that followed.
The issue started after Keeny Ice and Agbeshie joined Stonebwoy on stage during BHIM FEST London to perform their collaboration, “Xosetor.”
Following their appearance, JJ Gonami took to social media to express his disappointment with the amount of time the two artistes were given on the stage.
He argued that Keeny Ice and Agbeshie should have been given the opportunity to perform one song each before joining Stonebwoy for their collaboration.
JJ Gonami specifically mentioned Agbeshie’s “Wrowroho”, questioning why the artiste was not given the opportunity to perform the song, which he described as a big song in the UK.
He also questioned the decision to have the artistes travel all the way to the United Kingdom for what he described as a “20-second freestyle.”
“These guys deserve more than that. Give our Volta artists the platform to showcase what they can really do,” he said in his earlier post.
His comments, however, attracted criticism from some people who felt his approach was inappropriate and that he should have handled the matter differently.
The situation escalated further after the manager of Keeny Ice publicly responded to JJ Gonami over the post.
During his latest appearance on KFM TV, JJ Gonami was asked about the incident and why he eventually took down the content.

According to Gonami, the decision to delete the post was not because he had changed his position. He explained that his manager contacted him and instructed him to take down the content.
“ My manager called me to delete the post,” JJ Gonami explained during the interview.
The revelation provides further context to why the earlier post was removed after it had already generated reactions online.
JJ Gonami also used the KFM TV interview to explain the thinking behind his original comments and why he felt Keeny Ice and Agbeshie deserved a bigger opportunity to showcase themselves during the London concert.
His comments have since brought renewed attention to the debate over the representation and visibility of Volta Region artistes on major international platforms.
For Gonami, his original argument centred on giving the artistes enough time to perform their own records and connect with the audience before joining Stonebwoy for their collaborative performance.
