D Black Slapped With GHc480,248.00 Fine For Using Electricity Illegally

The owners of Oasis Pool and Shisha Lounge in Accra have been fined GHc480,248.00 for illegally consuming energy.
This calculation was made over the course of over a year of electricity usage.
On Wednesday, April 27, the Ghanaian Electricity Company unplugged the facility of prominent hip-hop singer D-Black due to an unlawful connection.
The facility is situated behind Accra’s police headquarters.
Managers of the institution have been given 14 days to make payment or risk prosecution, according to Citi News sources.
The ECG’s National Revenue Protection Taskforce is tasked with pursuing all deeply indebted institutions around the country.
They are responsible for cleaning up any illegalities in the system, such as meter bypass, meter manipulation, and the usage of power without matching invoicing.
So far, the power distribution firm has dealt with a few institutions that have had a similar destiny.
ECG has stated its intention to collect debts and clean up the system.
