“Grammy Was Made For Americans” – Rex Omar To Musicians Who Rate Grammys Over TGMAs

Ghanaian musicians have been advised to continue concentrating on the nation’s award programs by Rex Omar, a veteran musician and presidential staffer for the Black Star Experience.
Rex Omar stated in an interview with GhanaWeb on April 19 that while the Grammy Awards were designed for Americans and not Ghanaian artists, the country’s artists must have faith in the award programs.
He emphasized that musicians must likewise cease to disregard the nation’s award systems.
“Ghanaian people sometimes say that Grammy is for America. The Grammy was not made for you; therefore, I don’t see why you would disregard the Ghana Music Awards to attend the Grammys.
“BET is an American TV station that ended up also doing their awards. You get what I mean? So the whole situation is we have to believe in ourselves and things that we do in Ghana,” he said.
“We can also develop our award if we speak well about it, if we do it well.
Other countries will also want to be part of it. So, the whole thing is, it goes beyond just receiving an award.
“It’s a whole value chain and ecosystem that must be developed to be able to make any meaningful impact,” he stated.
