Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has revealed that marriage is one aspect of his life he would not choose to repeat if given another chance.
Speaking in an interview with gospel musician Piesie Esther, the renowned actor said that if he were asked what he would avoid in a next life, his answer would be marriage.
“In my next life, if I am asked what I won’t want to repeat from my previous life, I will say marriage,” he stated.
Fred Amugi attributed many of today’s marital challenges to changing societal dynamics, particularly the growing pursuit of careers and financial independence among women.
According to him, the popular saying, “What men can do, women can do better,” has contributed to conflicts in many homes and has become one of the factors behind rising divorce rates.
He explained that in the past, many women focused primarily on managing their homes and families, but modern realities have significantly changed that arrangement.
“Before, women didn’t chase careers and office work, so they were usually at home. But now, whatever a man can learn, women can also do the same. These changes have also affected marriages,” he said.
The veteran actor further disclosed that despite public perception, no marriage is perfect, including his own.
He noted that he prefers to keep his personal challenges private, which often creates the impression that everything is smooth at home.
“I’m someone who doesn’t talk about my issues outside, so people assume my home is peaceful. But if I’m starting life all over again, I won’t consider marriage,” he added.
