Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has shared her views on the role of financial stability in relationships and marriage, stating that love alone may not be enough to guarantee a comfortable life.
Speaking on an episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, the actress explained that financial challenges can place enormous pressure on couples and affect the quality of family life.
According to Nancy Isime, while marriage should never be viewed as a means of escaping poverty, financial security remains an important factor for couples planning a future together.
“Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme but I don’t believe marrying a poor man can make you happy,” she said.
The actress noted that constant struggles to meet basic needs such as rent, school fees, and food expenses can make it difficult for couples to enjoy the full benefits of marriage.
“When rent is due, school fees can’t be paid and there is no food in the house, it is difficult to have a fantastic life,” she stated.
Nancy Isime clarified that her comments should not be interpreted as suggesting that love depends on money.
“I am not saying there is no love without money. But love and fantastic life are not the same,” she added.
She further advised intending couples to work toward a reasonable level of financial stability before getting married and starting a family, stressing that economic preparedness can help reduce pressure and improve the overall quality of married life.
