African leadership has been criticized by well-known Ghanaian singer and radio host Abubakar Ahmed, better known by his stage name Blakk Rasta, on his “Urban Blend” program.
He offered insightful and unreserved analysis on the problems facing the continent and the overreaching authority of African rulers.
In the beginning, Blakk Rasta affirmed the nearly celestial reverence accorded to African presidents. He said, “African presidents are now like demigods.”
Some nations even hold leaders in higher regard than God. They have considerably more power than anyone could ever fathom.
Echoing the recommendation of former President John Mahama to limit executive overreach, he called for a reevaluation of constitutional powers, Blakk Rasta first noted.
Blakk Rasta cited Mahama’s recent statements, pointing out that if re-elected, the former president promised to do away with ex-gratia incentives for public servants.
“This individual claims he has no interest in ex gratia, despite the fact that he recognizes the taste of money. This is a brave stand, and I think it will be effective. But it’s still early, Mr. President, so don’t get comfortable,” he said.
Blakk Rasta has denounced previous government programs as a huge failure, especially the much-discussed “Year of Roads” program.
