Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Kumchacha, has claimed that religious leaders wield greater influence than politicians when it comes to determining election outcomes in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the outspoken preacher argued that pastors have the ability to shape the political choices of their congregations.
“We have more power than the politicians because whatever I say is what my church members listen to. That’s why if pastors say they’ll help you win power, you’ll win. In the same way, when they say you’ll lose power, you’ll lose,” he stated.
According to Prophet Kumchacha, politicians seeking electoral victory should not underestimate the influence of religious leaders, insisting that many church members follow the guidance of their pastors when making political decisions.
The preacher further claimed that he played a significant role in mobilizing pastors to support President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 general election campaign.
“I see President John Dramani Mahama as a very respectful and good person. Across all the regions in Ghana, I brought together 70 pastors when religious leaders met with the president during the election period,” he said.
Prophet Kumchacha also pointed to the large membership of some churches as evidence of the political influence pastors can command. He cited the founder of the Philadelphia Movement, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, as an example.
“Let me use Adom Kyei-Duah as an example. He has a lot of church members, and those members alone can help a political party win power and form government,” he added.
Known in private life as Nicholas Osei, Prophet Kumchacha has frequently made headlines for his outspoken views on religion, politics, and national issues.
