Sarkodie’s Diplomatic Passport Allegedly Seized, Making It Impossible For Him To Perform In The UK Over The Weekend

As alleged by Ghanaian X User, @CitizenTechiman, in a video shared on the page, Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, better known as Sarkodie, was seen apologizing to his fans in the UK, as he will have to make fights to the UK to perform for them over unforeseen circumstances.

However, the video, which is purported to be an old video, is linked to the rapper’s diplomatic passport being seized by the current administration of the country because he was not qualified but was given a diplomatic passport because of his affiliation with the NPP government.

All diplomatic and service passports granted by the Akufo-Addo administration are to be claimed, under the new government’s directive last week.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 14, President John Mahama, via his executive secretary, clarified that the purpose of the passport recall was to guarantee appropriate usage, guard against abuse, and preserve Ghana’s reputation.


As a result, the President has instructed the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to inform the holders of diplomatic passports, establish a return date, and thoroughly examine the papers.

The Ministry’s deadline to finish the collecting procedure is January 24.
