Volta Creative Arts Foundation and Mawuli Basketball host 3-day Arts and Crafts Workshop at Hohoe School for the Deaf and Blind.

From April 4th to 6th, 2025, the Volta Creative Arts Foundation, in collaboration with Mawuli Basketball Fellowship, successfully organised a 3-day Arts and Craft workshop for students of the Volta School for Deaf and Blind in Hohoe.

The program officially commenced on April 4th at 9:00 am. with students placed in classes based on their preferred area of interest. The workshop was divided into three main sections:

.Beading class – facilitated by Prisca Amadi and Grace Kwadzovi.

.Painting-led by Patrick Foli Quaye, Prosper Afetormashie (Park the Creator), and Godwin Awlime (Tokz)

Crocheting – facilitated by Sherry Akugri, Ezta Mawutor, and Giselle Fombon.

With the support of teachers serving as sign language interpreters, students actively engaged in hands-on learning.

Each participant produces multiple creative items, including bracelets,beaded slippers, beaded key holders, hair clips, waist beads, crocheted bags, and imaginary landscape painting.

On Saturday, April 5th, students enjoyed an engaging basketball training session with the Mawuli basketball team in the morning, followed by continued arts and crafts activities at 11:30 am.
Final day, April 6th, featured an exhibition at the school’s assembly hall at 10 am, showing the impressive works of the students. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. John Dzebu, Director of administration at the Hohoe Municipal Assembly, teachers and the entire students’ body.

During the exhibition, presentations and donations were made on behalf of Volta Creative Arts Foundation and Mawuli Basketball Fellowship by Samuel Etornam Kwasi Lavoe, founder and CEO of the Volta Creative Arts Foundation.

The students also benefited from a mental health and career guidance section led by Dr. Joseph Kuwornu, a mental health expert who spoke on personal development and life planning.

The program officially concluded at 3:30 p.m., leaving a lasting impact on all participants.
