Anlo Chiefs Calls On Speaker Of Parliament To Expose The MP Who Called Rawlings A ‘Murder’
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has been petitioned by Awoamefia Togbi Sri III, the Overlord of Anlo Dukor in the Volta Region, to reveal the identity of the MP who made the disparaging remarks about Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, the Klottey Korle MP and the eldest daughter of the late former President Jerry Rawlings.
The chiefs called the statement slanderous in a petition signed by Togbi Agbesi Awusu III, the Awadada of Anlo Dukor, on behalf of the Overlord on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Both MPs who were first accused of uttering the remark have subsequently denied any involvement, according to the petition.
The chiefs have expressed their deepest disapproval with the situation and asked Speaker Bagbin to identify the MP by February 10, 2025, so that they may take the necessary measures.
The event happened on Tuesday, February 4th, when members of the Majority and Minority parties were adding to a statement commemorating Dr. Joseph Boakye (J.B.) Danquah’s 60th anniversary of death.
According to a video, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin was speaking when an unnamed NPP MP stopped him by yelling, “Daughter of a murderer, sit down!” This remark was made in reference to Dr.
Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings.
