It Was The Devil”- Teenager Jailed For 1 Year Over Role In Murder Of 10-Year-Old Boy

A 12-month jail sentence was imposed on a teenager by the Accra Juvenile Court for his involvement in the 2021 ritual killing of Ishmael Mensah Abdella at Kasoa.
The 19-year-old boy will be housed in the Senior Correctional Center for the duration of his sentence. Graphic Online stated that he begged the court to pardon him prior to the sentence.
“It was not my intention to kill my dear friend and to also end his life this way. I pray the court would forgive all my sins and give me a second chance.” he said.
At the time of his arrest, the 15-year-old prisoner had been on remand for three years and two months.
He has completed his sentence and is entitled to freedom under the Juvenile Justice Act 2003 Act (ACT 653) but the judge believed that the additional time would help him understand the seriousness of the punishment and give him time to learn a trade.
The Criminal and Other Offenses (Procedure) Act 1960 (Act 30) was used to try Kini as an adult.
The prosecution claims that the defendants sought advice from a spiritualist regarding money rituals on March 29 2021.
A human being to perform the rituals and GH¢5000 was reportedly requested by the aforementioned spiritualist who claimed to be in the Volta Region.
The victim was killed on April 3 2021 after the accused people enticed him to an incomplete building. In October 2024 Nicholas Kini the convict’s co-conspirator in the murder received a life sentence.
The two stated during questioning that they had originally intended to kidnap him in order to demand GH¢5000 in ransom. The burial took place on April 8 2021.
