Ghana’s president, John Dramani Mahama, has refuted allegations that he failed to address the power shortages before his resignation in 2017.
He claims that he resolved the “Dumsor” power outage on his own. “I “was in this chamber ten years ago yesterday, February 26, 2025, to announce my resolve to address the legacy issue of power shortages in Dumsor, and I did just that, Mr. Speaker.
There was load management or power rationing in Ghana between January 2016 and January 7, 2017, when I turned over control of the country. I vowed to repair it, and I did.
The president plans to heal the economy, which he claims is in a terrible state, just as he fixed Dumsor.
Mr. Speaker, I am moved to make a similar bold and purposeful declaration today: “I, John Dramani Mahama, will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity… inspired by the Almighty God and propelled by the massive mandate given to me by the good people of Ghana,” he said.
