Side Chicks Go Enjoy Rough’ – Ghanaians react to plans by New Gender Minister to advocate for Paternity Leave

Minister-designate for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Naa Momo Lartey has disclosed that she intends to push for paternity leave.

The MP from Krowor claims that while she believes paternity leave is important she only has minor concerns about the policy because she is unsure if men would truly stay at home with their wives or if they would just do something else with their free time.

During her vetting, Agnes Lartey said: “I would love to advocate for paternity leave, but it will be interesting if they spend time with their family if they take such leave,”

Many on social media expressed disapproval of her plan and demanded that she extend maternity leave which is currently only three months in Ghana.

“I think it’s 6months maternity leave we the women are advocating for so let’s get that done first before looking at this angle of paternity leave,” one user said.

Others said men will not spend the leave with their family but will rather chill with their side chicks.

side chicks go enjoy rough,” one netizen simply wrote.
