Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the MP for Effutu and the minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin has claimed that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee, which is led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu, spied on his properties in Winneba.
His staff had seen the committee’s purported use of drones to invade his seashore and other nearby properties on several occasions, he said.
The accusation follows Ablakwa’s disclosure at the Appointments Committee’s January 31 screening that the Minority Leader received a 99-year lease on Winneba land on March 22, 2023.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin said in an interview with Accra-based Joy News that he had demonstrated goodwill before the screening and asked for forgiveness for earlier remarks in order to guarantee a seamless procedure.
But his advice was ignored.
He said:
Before his vetting, ask Ablakwa whether we didn’t sit as brothers. I said, ‘Sammy, there were things that you went overboard with. I think if you make concessions, we’ll be fine.’
Meanwhile, I was aware that these ORAL guys had been flying drones in Winneba over my property. I kept quiet. I managed it. They went to my beachfront property, mounted a drone, and flew it from the community center near the ‘nshorna.’
My boy saw it. I told them to ignore it. When government changes, people do all sorts of things. They went to my white house, the one at the veterinary area, checking the property.
In Abelemkpe, they went there as well. You’ll be there, and you’ll be seeing drones in the morning.
