Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, stated yesterday that Ghana’s three main telecom companies will be offering a special Independence Day data bundle deal.
The bundle will provide 6GB of data for GHS 10, an increase over the standard 1GB or 3GB available at the same price, according to a statement posted on X by the Ningo-Prampram MP. Authorized by President John Dramani Mahama, this unique package was given out as part of the Independence Day festivities.
The NDC and Honourable Sam George received a lot of praise from Ghanaians who feel it was a privilege for the government to honor its citizens with such an offer for the country’s biggest day.
Something that appeared to be a great idea turned out to be otherwise because, contrary to Sam George’s post on X that the president instructed the Telcos to do that for the citizens and prepare steps to bring down the prices of data, the idea existed even within the last government, so some people are already contemplating what Sam George really meant with his post.
