Ghanaian rapper Amerado has openly said that his musical career began as a survival tactic rather than out of enthusiasm.
The “Obiaa Boa” hitmaker said that he does not always like his job as a musician in an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz.
“I started doing music primarily to make ends meet because I had to eat, and I don’t even enjoy being an artist most of the time,” he stated.
Amerado clarified that despite its glamour and notoriety, the music business has many restrictions and demands that he must deal with.
He pointed to the loss of individual liberty as a significant obstacle, pointing out that followers frequently expect superstars to be always giving in public.
I feel restricted,” he said. “Whenever you’re outside — especially stuck in traffic — people expect you to give them money simply because you’re a known face, he added.
Amerado stated that live performances are one of the only parts of his profession that he genuinely values, despite acknowledging the burden of public expectations and the financial strain that comes with his notoriety.
