The beauty was born in Suhum, in the heart of Ghana. She joined Suhum Roman Catholic school, and later, Ofori Payin. On completion, the actress moved to Adonten Senior High School, located in Suhum.
At the young age of nine, Akuapem started out selling Poloo, a popular Ghanaian snack, on the street of Maamfe in Aburi. As a result, she earned the nickname Akuapem Poloo. The actress is a mother of one boy, and interestingly, she is the only daughter of her mother. Her grandfather raised her. After moving to Accra, she studied Public Relations in one of the media schools in Accra.
