Bongo Ideas Should Be Given Community Service Because He’s Broke, Even Selling His Entire Family Will Not Get You Ghc 170,000 – Twene Jonas

Ghanaian social media figure Twene Jonas has slammed a court decision against Twitter influencer Albert Nat Hyde, known as Bongo Ideas, labeling it ‘nonsensical’ for addressing defamation.
In the Accra High Court case, Kojo Forex, another Twitter influencer, sued Bongo Ideas for harming his reputation.
The court ordered Bongo to pay Kojo Forex a total of Ghc 170,000 for damages and costs.
The breakdown was Ghc 100,000 for general damages, though Kojo Forex initially sought Ghc 1,000,000.
Additionally, Bongo was ordered to pay Ghc 50,000 for aggravated damages and Ghc 20,000 for Kojo Forex’s legal costs.
Bongo has yet to demonstrate he can or will pay the amount but has issued a public apology and retracted his comments, as required by the court.
Twene Jonas pointed out that it’s common knowledge Bongo doesn’t have the money, joking that even selling everything his family owns wouldn’t raise Ghc 170,000.
Jonas suggested that instead of a financial penalty, Bongo should have been sentenced to community service, like weeding or another task that benefits society.
