Almost nine years after Castro went missing, and Ghanaian musical duo Keche, claims to still be uncertain about the death of the timeless musician.
In in interview, Keche revealed that Castro was crucial to the group’s formation, he also said that he was the one who came up with the moniker “Keche.
“
“He brought us here; he believed in us; he said, “Kaywa, Kaywa, I urge you nurture them… Castro could travel to London, go shopping, and bring it to us,” the man remembered.
Speaking on Prime Morning, the group claimed that Castro had a song for them to record and that he would do so after returning from a funeral in Kumasi.
Castro made the promise.
“Later we heard that he had a call and he told his brother to take the lead and go to Kumasi, then he will join them later,” Keche Andrew recalled.
“So I was in the room in the afternoon when I got a call that Castro had drowned.
“
He said, “I know Castro is an excellent swimmer; he just got back from Sekondi, and I heard he was wearing a vest, so it is doubtful he could have drowned.”
“I’m not sure he made it to the estuary, and the local authorities won’t even let you get that far, so I’m just going by what people are saying, but I won’t believe it until I see his body,” he said.
