According to Okyeame Kwame, women shouldn’t support themselves financially while they are in a relationship.
The guy whose marriage is being emulated claims that because he has been socialized to assume all of the household’s financial responsibilities, his ego would be damaged if his wife chooses to take care of her financial needs while they are still a couple.
He declared on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show that he would not allow his wife to assume that obligation from him, regardless of her income.
“We were all raised with a socio-cultural perspective. Furthermore, I was raised to believe that even though my wife is a billionaire, it is my responsibility to provide for the family’s needs in terms of food, childcare, and housing.
Hence, he explained, “That kind of service is tied to my ego, so if a lady does it for me, I’ll be angry.”
