The deceased Maame Akua Donkor’s biological daughter has expressed her displeasure with the stunning way her family reportedly mismanaged money donated for her mother’s funeral.

She described her experience, saying that she was in Kumasi at the time of her mother’s death, actively getting ready for the memorial ceremony, which would go on for a week. She was making preparations when her cousin called to let her know that the family needed funds to plan the celebration.
She took the request seriously and started arranging to acquire the required funds, believing that everything was being handled transparently.
She was shocked to learn, however, that a sizeable GHC 100,000 gift had already been made to help the family. The fact that this information had been purposefully kept from her, giving the impression that the family was in financial trouble and in need of her help, was what most upset her.
She contacted her cousin again to ask about the contribution, determined to find out the truth. She was shocked when he acknowledged receiving the money but stated it had been utilized to update the family home.
Instead of concentrating just on funeral costs, he said, the family viewed the contribution as a chance to fix damaged parts and make improvements to the house.
