Drake Has Been Announced As Artiste Of The Decade By Billboard Music Awards
Drake has been named the recipient of an artist of the decade award, which he will receive at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
The 34-year-old Canadian rapper will receive the Artist of the Decade Award at the ceremony, which will be televised live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Sunday, May 23.
Drake, who has 27 Billboard Music Awards to his name, is winning the award after being named the best-performing artist of the last ten years, based on activity on the Billboard Hot 100 singles list and the Billboard 200 albums count, as well as social media results and touring revenue from Billboard Boxscore, from December 5, 2009, to September 28, 2019.
He is the first solo male with more than 50 career weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, and he has nine No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, the most of any artist in the decade.
In addition, the Canadian rapper is nominated for seven prizes in traditional categories (Top Radio Song; Top Male Artist; Top Billboard 200 Artist; Top Hot 100 Artist; Top Streaming Songs Artist; Top Rap Artist; Top Streaming Song).
Pink will win the prestigious Icon Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, which will be presented by Nick Jonas.
Previous recipients of the artist of the decade award include Mariah Carey, who earned the honor in 1999.
