The legend of Ghanaian highlife music, Akosua Agyapong, has addressed rumors that she was 70 years old.

Instead of 70, as some Ghanaians have been assuming, the performer confirmed that she was 55.


According to Akosua Agyapong, who has been performing for 35 years, she began her musical career at the age of 20.

She said that because of her lengthy career in the field, many people could have thought she was older than she actually was.

People frequently comment that they have been listening to her music since they were little when they meet her, she said.

She expressed her hope that people would acknowledge her true age and quit making her appear older, saying that these remarks have helped to create the false impression that she has been in the business for much longer than she has.
