Ghanaian musician Adina Thembi has addressed misconceptions about the message behind one of her popular songs, Sika.
According to her, the lyrics were never meant to discourage financial stability in relationships.
Speaking on Joy Prime, the singer said some listeners misunderstood the meaning of the track and assumed she was encouraging people to date partners without money.
“I feel like a lot of people get me wrong when I talk about that song,” she said.
According to Adina, the real message of the song was directed at individuals who use wealth as an excuse for bad behavior in relationships.
“I’m actually addressing the people who have plenty money and see it as an excuse to misbehave,” she explained.
The singer stressed that the intention was to highlight the importance of genuine love and respect.
“It’s not about the money. Show me that aside the money, you actually love me,” she said.
Adina also revealed that the idea for the song came from a conversation during a studio session involving several creatives.
“We were sitting in the studio and someone suggested we talk about money and relationships,” she said, adding that the discussion inspired the final theme of the song.
