Nigerian influencer and content creator Arohis Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos, has opened up about his unconventional approach to property ownership.
Speaking on a recent episode of the KK Show, he revealed that he has never lived in any of the houses he purchased with his own money.
Ola of Lagos explained that moving into a house he owns would make him too comfortable and reduce his drive to keep working hard.
He noted that despite owning property in a beautiful estate, he still lives in rented apartments and pays rent annually.
According to him, paying as much as N50 million a year in rent serves as motivation, using the financial pressure to push himself to grind harder.
He wrote:
“I have never slept in any house I bought with my own money. If you do, you will become too relaxed. Despite being in a beautiful estate, I still live in rented apartments and pay rent. When I pay 50 million naira a year. I use that pain to keep grinding harder.”
