Ghanaian songstress Sista Afia has opened up about her desire to experience motherhood within a committed family rather than simply having a child.
The singer said the growing number of single mothers in her generation has made her think carefully about the kind of family she wants to build.
“I’m not afraid of motherhood, but I’m afraid of becoming a single mother or just a ‘baby mama’ without the love, commitment, and family I always envisioned,” she said in a social media post.
According to Sista Afia, becoming a mother is not her only goal. She wants to build a loving home with commitment and family values.
“I want to build a home, not just have a child,” she stated.
She further admitted that the possibility of becoming a single mother is something she finds difficult to ignore.
“Seeing how many single mothers there are in this generation honestly scares me,” she added.
“And honestly, that fear scares the hell out of me.”
