Mohammed Ismail Sherif, better known as Black Sherif has portrayed real hardships, such as loneliness and the problems individuals face in earning a living. In an interview with GhanaWeb TV’s Blogger’s Forum, he stated that the subject of his songs is a reflection of his and others’ experiences.
In his ‘1st Sermon,’ for instance, he discusses how, despite his inherent brilliance, he has been ignored.
He told presenter Abrantepa, “I love to write about things I’m going through or things I’ve witnessed so you can feel the realism in the song.” “I wrote ‘1st Sermon’ because of what I was going through at the time. I’ve been releasing music since last year, but as a creative, you get the feeling that they’re not paying attention to you, so I simply put in a song.”
When asked how difficult life has been, Black Sherif, who has transferred from Kumasi to Accra to complete his schooling, answered, “Life is difficult, but Accra is much more difficult.”
Following the release of his “1st Sermon,” Black Sherif has been in the headlines for the past several days. His public popularity continues to grow, and his streaming has skyrocketed.
