Yesterday, the Nigeria Police Force busted a human trafficking ring in Ogun State.

This group was deceiving children into becoming sex slaves, with customers paying as little as 1,000 Naira per session, equivalent to about 10 Ghanaian Cedis.

A 14-year-old girl explained she was brought from Akwa Ibom under the false promise of a salesgirl position.

When she arrived, she was drugged, and the woman in charge cut her hair, threatening to use it against her if she attempted to escape.

She was then forced into prostitution by Mrs. Edem Joy, who answered to another woman, Mrs. Okutoro Yemisi, who is 60 years old.

According to a report from one of the police officers;

“They lure girls from Akwa Ibom, Calabar and Delta State .. but mostly from Akwa Ibom — make them swear with their blood, hairs and or Bible.. that they’d never confess or runaway”

“After which, tie them down with drugs and charms and dispatch them to different hotels…with the promise of letting them go after a year and settling them with a phone and a box of clothes.”

The girls reported that their handlers collected tissues used by clients, allegedly for ritual purposes, and required them after every session.

The rates for their services ranged from 1,000 to 5,000 Naira, but the money had to be handed over entirely to Mrs. Edem.

Among the victims, the youngest was just 12 years old.

Authorities were alerted by an anonymous tip on February 8th.
