Ghanaian musicians who seem uninterested in the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) have been criticized by entertainment commentator MC Yaa Yeboah, who has called on them to appreciate and value the esteemed program more.
In an interview with Peace FM on April 8, 2025, the media personality made the case that no singer should think of themselves as superior to the award program, which has made a substantial contribution to the development and popularity of Ghanaian music for more than 20 years.
“A number of artists have told us they are more important than the honors. Kwaku Smoke recently stated that he doesn’t watch the awards in a similar tweet. She forcefully stated, “I want all artists to understand that you are not bigger than the Ghana Music Awards.”
MC Yaa Yeboah emphasized how crucial it is for musicians to enter the awards in order to be recognized and to support the scheme’s mission of encouraging greatness in the field.
“I find it funny when people criticize Stonebwoy just for participating in the awards-related discussions.
Who wouldn’t want their efforts to be recognized? She asked
She emphasized that the purpose of the awards is to honor dedication and success and to motivate musicians to get involved rather than to distance themselves.
