Suarez was dismissed for his unsportsmanlike behavior, and Ghana was given a penalty, but Asamoah Gyan failed to convert.
At the end of the game, Uruguay defeated Ghana 4-2 on penalties to go to the World Cup semifinal.
Suarez has been demonized by Ghanaians and other Africans for his behavior for the past 12 years since that game in South Africa.
Although Gyan’s miss seemed like a goal, the Uruguayan forward maintains that his red card was justified in his book, “Crossing the Line.”
