Why ‘Lynx curse’ won’t affect me – Kuami Eugene opens up on life after exit

Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene has shut down claims that artistes struggle after leaving Lynx Entertainment because of a so called “curse.”
Speaking in an interview on 3Music TV, the singer explained that most artistes fail after leaving because they do not prepare properly for independence.
According to Kuami Eugene, Lynx Entertainment already provides a strong support system for its artistes, including media connections, promotion, and industry relationships. He noted that artistes who decide to leave must build those networks on their own before going independent.
“There’s nothing like a Lynx curse,” he said. “The problem is that some people don’t put things together before leaving.”
The “Monica” hitmaker stated that many industry players already have established ties with Lynx Entertainment, which makes transition difficult for artistes who leave without creating their own relationships.
Kuami Eugene also praised Richie Mensah for helping shape his career and introducing him to key people in the music industry.
“He introduced me to many people in the industry and they still support me even after I left,” he shared.
The singer explained that his own transition from the label was smooth because he started building industry relationships long before exiting Lynx Entertainment.
He added that he has continued to release successful songs as an independent artiste, citing tracks like Bing Bing and Do Better as proof that he remains active in the music scene.
Kuami Eugene also revealed that he intentionally stayed away from the media for some time after leaving Lynx Entertainment so he could reorganise himself properly before returning publicly.
“I needed to put some things together before slowly coming out again,” he explained.
The singer said his journey has taught him that talent alone is not enough for an artiste trying to survive outside a record label.
“You need preparation, structure and relationships,” he added.
