Ghanaian musician and reigning Black Sherif, current Telecel Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, has said he believes he can win the topmost award for a third time. That achievement would place him in a historic position in the award scheme.
He spoke in an exclusive interview with Cookie Tee on TV3’s New Day. He noted that his focus remains on steady work and constant improvement after his latest success with the song “Sacrifice.”
He responded to whether another win is possible with this statement:
“It’s possible, most definitely possible because I am still working, I’m back to work. We won the award on Sunday dawn, back to work on Monday, we are working. It is 100 percent possible.”
At the 27th TGMA, Black Sherif stood out with five awards, including Artiste of the Year. That made him the most awarded act of the night.
His achievement places him among a small group of artistes who have won the top award more than once. This group includes Sarkodie, who won in 2010 and 2012, Stonebwoy, who won in 2015 and 2024, and VIP/VVIP, who won in 2004 and 2011.
With two Artiste of the Year titles already, Black Sherif now joins the list of multiple winners as he aims for a third win that would set a new record in TGMA history.
