Check Out The 7 Ministries Scrapped By President John Mahama

As part of his government reorganization plan, President John Dramani Mahama has trimmed the number of ministries from 29 to 23.

This action is a component of a larger plan to increase productivity simplify processes and create a more efficient leaner administration.

Government priorities need to be realigned redundancies must be removed and good governance must be promoted.

President Mahama has demonstrated through this reorganization his administration’s emphasis on strategic governance innovation and a dedication to solving urgent national problems.


One of the most significant changes is the elimination of a number of ministries that were previously led by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.


The following ministries have been scrapped:

  • Ministry of Information
  • Ministry of National Security
  • Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs
  • Ministry of Railway Development
  • Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources
  • Ministry of Public Enterprises
  • Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (merged with the Ministry of Local Government)
