KNUST and CID begins Investigations into death of Final-Year student, Joana Deladem Yabani

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is prioritizing safety after the unfortunate death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year student in Biological Sciences.
Her body was discovered around 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025, near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre, following a report to KNUST Security Services.
After her death had been confirmed, her body was transferred to the University Health Services for a detailed examination.
On February 27, the university’s management announced they were conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
They are collaborating with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and University Health Services to determine the circumstances of her death.
KNUST has notified Joana’s family and requested that students remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and respect the family’s privacy during this challenging time.
The university management also extended their deepest condolences to Joana’s family.
“We will provide further updates as the investigation unfolds,” the statement concluded.
