The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into a shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.

The police statement comes after photos and videos of the former legislator and her vehicle, which appeared to have sustained gunshot damage, began circulating on social media on Sunday, June 21, 2026, drawing widespread public attention.

According to a press release signed by Ms. Juliana Obeng (Supt.), Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region,  preliminary investigations indicate that Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear while visiting her late father’s residence at Kwabenya.

Police said she later reported the incident to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482-24, which had visible gunshot damage.

The statement noted that the victim has been issued with a Police Medical Report Form and is currently receiving medical attention.

Meanwhile, the vehicle has been retained for forensic examination as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify all persons connected to the case.

The Madina Divisional Command is leading the investigation, with police assuring the public that efforts are underway to uncover the facts surrounding the shooting.
